The File/Download option provides interactive serial communications capability with the IFT2000. When this option is selected, a form is presented that allows the user to download data, and optionally save to a file. The data may be either the summary or data log of a test which has already been completed on the IFT2000; or, the user may setup a test protocol for a real time test. A real time test can be either a single rate flow test, or an occlusion pressure test, or both. The time of each portion of the test can be selected from a list of defaults, or be input directly. Check boxes are provided to automatically download a summary file, print the test summary, and to automatically start the real time test.

If the 'Save to File' check box has been ticked, the user will be presented with a file header information form, after the file name has been entered. The file header provides an opportunity to enter specific test information related to the pump, rates, test technician, pump type, etc. These data fields may be optional, or can be set as mandatory in the System Administrator (see Options/...). Mandatory fields must be entered before the program may proceed. When a real time single rate test is performed, the flow rate becomes mandatory in order to set up the graphing screen flow axis. The data fields in the header are generally set up as pop-down selection boxes. The selections available in any given data field must be setup in the System Administrator. If the required entry is not available from the options presented, it may be typed directly into the data field. Data entered this way is transient, and will exist only for the current download. The other transient entries are the 'Serial No.' and 'Control No.' fields. Data entered in the header screen will replace the 'blank' header information that is normally output by the IFT2000 when summaries or data logs are downloaded.

During a download of a summary or data log report, the text received will be displayed in a window. After the report is received, the user has several options, as described in the next section (see File/Edit ....).

During receipt of real time data, the screen will show either a 'Real Time Rate Test' graph or a 'Real Time Occlusion Test' graph, as appropriate. Following completion of the test(s), the summary for the test(s) will be downloaded (if enabled), and the program will return to the Main screen.
